Description

Since 2006 (DL 146/2006), at least, the NMPB96 French method is the most usual to predict the road traffic noise
sound levels, in Portugal. This method has some complexity and is usually integrated into relatively expensive
commercial softwares. Therefore, it's very important to have a prompt forecast, without the need to resort to the
method/software, despite some limitations that should be taken into account. With this in mind, in 2008,
an efficient method was developed to forecast road traffic noise sound levels, based on the NMPB-Routes-96.
In 2015 (EU Directive 2015/996) the European harmonized methods were officially published (To be used in
all member states) to forecast the road traffic, rail traffic, air traffic and industries noise levels
Assessment Methods in Europe).
